If I could ultimately sum up my feelings for this drink with one word, it would have to be “awesome.” Are you kidding me? Lemon Ice Gatorade was the shit. A solid one-fourth of my childhood is best characterized by happiness directly correlated to Lemon Ice Gatorade. Soccer games: Lemon Ice Gatorade; Baseball Games: Lemon Ice Gatorade; Receiving the Optimist Award: Had a Lemon Ice Gatorade in my hand; First Kiss: Happened shortly after consuming a Lemon Ice Gatorade. How can you not want a Lemon Ice Gatorade at all times? By eliminating my all-time favorite beverage, Gatorade, you have eliminated a part of me, too. You have to be kidding me if you expect me to sit here and believe that Lemon Ice just wasn’t selling. That’s just an egregious thought. Furthermore, Lemon Ice was one of the original Gatorade products, and everyone likes a classic. Lemon-Lime, Fruit Punch, and Orange have seemed to stand the test of time, so why not Lemon Ice? It’s truly an outrage. Think of all the sub-par Gatorade products that had their day in the sun — I’m sure you can name a few. How about the whole “Fierce” brand of Gatorade? They are awful. If you have never delved into the sad world of “Fierce,” imagine watered down jolly ranchers in liquid form — there is your beverage. Yuck. Why stop there — how about “Midnight Thunder” Gatorade. Remember that? Not only was the contents opague, but it tasted like another popular treat of the time: Gogurt. Someone please explain to me why you would want to drink something like Midnight Thunder. Please. What a waste of $1.00. Yes, Gatorade was $1.00 back then, gas was less than $1.00/gal and there weren’t DVDs or cell phones either. All I’m saying is this: the removal of Lemon Ice Gatorade is an utter outrage. In fact, I can’t seem to remember when the last time I enjoyed this lemony bliss because it has been off the market for so long; the decade long removal of Lemon Ice, to me, is something that should be fixed at a quicker rate than Usain Bolt covers 100 meters.
